Hello and welcome to my webpage. I am Robin Colley, owner of Animal Haus Kennel. This page is dedicated to letting you know about me and how I breed, raise, and take great care of my Chihuahuas. I was raised on a farm and have spent my entire life caring for animals. I went on to pursue a job as a Veterinarian assistant right out of highschool (in 1975). I have been a breeder of beautiful chihuahuas for over 50 years now. I also used to show dogs for many years until my health forced me to quit. I became the mother of twins which originally stopped my showing career. Now that the girls are older, we are working on getting back into the ring. We hope to start showing again with a few of our promising puppies, if my health will permit it. I was also a professional pet groomer for almost 20 years. All of our animals are part of our family and we treat them as such. We strongly feel that no pet can learn any more or any less then the new owner takes time to teach them. We live on a small farm right on the Virginia/Tennessee border in the small town of Abingdon, VA (we were formerly in Bristol, VA, but had to move recently). Our animals are our entire life. Our biggest goal is to place each one into a loving, caring, proper environment with a loving family. We have placed puppies in homes all across the United States and also have two in Germany, one in England and one in Turkey, all of which came here to meet us in our home. We at NO time sell to petshops, puppy brokers, or puppy mills. I hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

We Breed for Sanity: All of our chihuahuas are first and foremost bred to have a bubbly, outgoing personality. We feel that their mental status and personality are the most important aspects of a quality chihuahua. Which is more important in your mind, beauty or brains? Although conformation is a major part of our breeding plan, an intelligent and loveable chihuahua is our top priority.

The Health of our puppies: Our main goal is to produce a healthy loving addition to your family. We do stand behind our puppies for soundness. At no time is any dog used for breeding that is not 100% sound. We strongly feel that the aggression level of this tiny breed can be eliminated through a careful and selective breeding program. Our main goal for over 50 years is to add a little ray of sunshine to your family and make life a little less lonely.

What We Think of Showing: However many of our chihuahuas are show quality, we do not advertise them as such. We strongly feel that every puppy deserves the right to be in a loving family environment. We do not object to these tiny companions being shown, we just feel the puppy deserves more of a family style of life, so our puppies are sold with a spay/neuter agreement. The altering (spay or neuter) of a pet leaves them ineligible for conformation showing. However, there are many wonderful and rewarding alternatives to conformation showing that you can compete with your puppy in, including agility and obedience competitions, as well as therapy work and visiting nursing homes.

ALL Puppies are sold with a Spay/Neuter agreement: ALL puppies are being sold with a spay/neuter agreement. There are no exceptions. We feel that these tiny animals deserve more then to be shoved in a cage and made to become a 'puppy factory'. They Deserve a home and a family with lots love!

Vaccinations and Socialization: No puppy is ever sold without having at least 2 sets of shots and being de-wormed. All puppies must be at least 8-10 weeks old before they will leave my home. Some, however, may need to stay longer depending upon size, depending upon their weaning process and their ability to eat solid food. All puppies are fully weaned, well socialized and raised with people, children, and other chihuahuas and exposed to everyday household sounds (example: phones, vacuums, television, noisy kids toys, etc) because they are raised in our home. Socialization and exposure to household sounds are very important for a young puppy, as it gives them a proper start to becoming a wonderful companion. Older puppies receive their vaccinations at the appropriate intervals until they are placed into a new home or reach 6 months of age.

About Shipping: We do not ship our puppies. We simply feel that this tiny breed is too small to travel alone. We want to meet the perspective owners in person. Last but not least, we wish for the perspective owner to get to see the environment that the puppy was raised in. Although there are many people on the Internet who will ship, we believe that this is not a good ideal. Please read our "Buyer Beware" page for more information about shipping and breeders who ship. We believe that the perspective owner has the right to see and meet the environment the puppy was raised in and the people it was raised with.

Our Health Guarantee: We do give an extensive, written health guarantee. We give a 2 week viral guarantee. All puppies are given at least 2 vaccines before leaving our home. Older puppies receive shots at age appropriate intervals until they are placed into a new home or reach 6 months of age as per typical vaccine protocols. Our puppies are also preventatively given dewormer medication at appropriate intervals. We also give a written 5 year guarantee against genetic defects (such as heart, lungs, etc., ) This is all with a replacement guarantee only. All transportation and veterinarian expenses are up to the new owner. I require that all genetic defects have written veterinarian documentation provided to me before a replacement is given.

What we provide: Your puppy comes to you full of love and personality. We also provide a small bag of food, complete medical and health records, and a puppy pack- which includes coupons, a 'How to care for your puppy' book, instructions as to the future care of your baby, and much more. We also provide a newbaby blanket, several toys, a new harness and leash, and a bag of snacks and treats for your little one, these are all to help ease the puppies transition into a new home with familiar toys, treats, and scents from their original home. We are available at any time to aid you in any questions that you may have concerning one of our babies. Feel free to call at any time, day or night, if you have a problem or concern with one of our little ones. We only want what is best for the puppy and for you.

We are located in Abingdon, Virginia. This is just slightly north of Bristol, Virginia, United States. Bristol is located on the borders of Virginia and Tennessee and is a very popular NASCAR town. We lived in Bristol for several decades, until very recently when life events forced a move, and some listings still have Bristol listed as our address. Unfortuneately, somethings aren't updatable. We are one in the same, but our actual address is in Abingdon now.

NOTICE:

Animal Haus Chihuahuas is not in any way affiliated with the many similar named organizations or companies on the internet. These include several pet shops and another chihuahua breeder, as well as a new rescue group located in Florida. We do not know these people nor do we have any connection to them. We have had the name of Animal Haus for over 50 years, a claim that many of these similar named companies cannot make. When making any correspondences with us, make sure that you are dealing with Robin Colley of Animal Haus Chihuahuas in Virginia and that you have found our website address: AHKennel.NET, not those of the copy-cats (which are "coincidentally" very similar).

We also do not correspond with any other email address other then the two mentioned above, ahkennel@aol.com and ahkennel@gmail.com as there is another scam going around where breeders entire advertisements are being stolen and replaced with false contact information. These sites sometimes contain mirror websites that look legitimate, but are not. Please be cautious any time that you are dealing through the Internet, and make sure that all details match up before making a deposit. We also do NOT, nor will we ever, ship our puppies-this scam states that payments must be made in full and puppy will be shipped to you. This scam requires payment in full or in a large portion through Money Gram or Western Union- I have not nor will ever use these services for deposits. We do however do use paypal for deposits, for your convenience, which is a legitimate website and all transactions come with receipts and are easily traceable. Paypal also has security measures to help you from being conned or scammed. I repeat, if you find an advertisement with our information but with a different contact information or requiring alternate forms of payment or payment up front, then it is NOT us. If you run across any similar type scams, please do bring it to our attention so that it can be turned over to the authorities. Most of these scams say that we are located in various states, including the mid-west and Florida. Animal Haus Chihuahuas is located in Virginia, and will continue to be located in Virginia.
